In
the East Gallery, last year's exhibition award winners, Ryan Bush
and Sandra Ortiz Taylor, will present their works in the Arts
on Fire XIII Awards Exhibition. Bush and Taylor were awarded
this 2010 exhibition by the 2009 Arts on Fire juror, Jacquelin
Pilar.
Bush
will include works from his series, Compositions, as well
as his newest series, Writing the Divine, in which photographs
of sacred text are enlarged, reworked, and morphed into more abstract
meditations.
Taylor
is a mixed-media artist who received the exhibition award for her
finely nuanced and evocative piece, Poet’s Box. Taylor
calls herself "a lapsed easel painter," whose work exhibits
her "love for language and ideas as well as line and color."
The
exhibition will be on display through May 9, with galleries open
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 1 to 5 pm.
